Health to Go is a Smart Vending Machine located at the Reading YMCA. It provides free resources, including Narcan, medication disposal bags, drug checking strips, wound care kits, personal care items and more. The large touch screen also provides information of community services and treatment providers.

Order NowMedication drop boxes are securely placed at over 30 locations throughout Berks County. These drop boxes resemble a US Postal Service mailbox, and items can be easily dropped in, but cannot be retrieved unless unlocked by authorities. Inventoried medications are incinerated at the discretion of the Berks County District Attorney’s Detectives and Solid Waste Authority.
Find a Drop Box near youEach bag contains a small pouch of a carbon compound. Unwanted medications are placed in the bag and warm water is added. The water works to dissolve an inner pod, releasing the activated carbon within. This disposal process works on pills, patches and liquids, allowing them to be absorbed by the carbon and rendering them inert and non-retrievable. The bag and its contents can then be safely disposed in a household trashcan.
