SOS Berks Co-Sponsors Successful Recovery Awareness Night at the Reading Fightin’ Phils

August 20, 2024

On August 15, 2024, SOS Berks and Berks Counseling Center co-sponsored the 3rd Annual Recovery Awareness Night at the Reading Fightin’ Phils.

It turned out to be a beautiful night for a baseball game and a fun event involving a total of 16 recovery organizations and treatment providers, who set up tables throughout the plaza of FirstEnergy Stadium before the baseball game, providing information on substance use prevention, treatment and recovery. They also gave away over 600 free Recovery Awareness Night t-shirts. More than 7,000 people attended the game.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness that recovery from substance use disorder is possible, to celebrate those who are living in recovery, and to draw attention to the fact that support for treatment and recovery is available right here in Berks County.

“Sponsoring the Recovery Awareness Night game enables us and our partners to spread a message of hope and provide treatment and recovery information to a large audience,” said SOS Berks Co-Chair Kathleen F. Noll, who is also the executive director of the Council on Chemical Abuse.

As the main sponsors of the game, SOS Berks and Berks Counseling Center received 5,000 tickets which were distributed to the general public and to clients of the partnering organizations.
