Look for this beautiful burst of color if you are driving past 11th & Richmond Streets. Located on a building owned by Albright College in an area that is highly visible to traffic, this mural design was created by Reading artist Marian Njai. It is based on the recovery story of Yvonne Stroman, who discussed with Marian the many joys of life in recovery, which includes bicycling, journaling, helping others in recovery and mentoring young people. Yvonne’s inspirational quotes about her journey of recovery loop through the imagery, which incorporates hand cut stencil patterns, many of which resemble bicycle-themed elements such as gears and bike chains, so that the theme of the journey is reflected in even the smallest elements.
