SOS Berks Recognized Save A Life Day on Sept 24

October 9, 2026

SOS Berks members recognized Save a Life Day, on September 24 by distributing free Narcan at 11 different locations throughout Berks County. This marks the first year SOS Berks has participated in Save a Life Day, which is a nationwide day of action that promotes year-round, widespread naloxone access as one solution to the overdose crisis. Locations included three area YMCAs, Reading Hospital, Berks RISE Center, Peace & Harmony House, and organizations associated with SOS Berks. See complete list here.

Overall, this was a successful first time event, with at total of 322 boxes of Narcan handed out over the course of a single day. Organizers hope to continue to recognize Save a Life Day annually in Berks County, and to add more sites, with an eye on making free boxes of the lifesaving drug Narcan available to as many county residents as possible.
