On August 13, 2026, SOS Berks and Berks Counseling Center co-sponsored the 5th Annual Recovery Awareness Night at the Reading Fightin’ Phils.
This annual tradition has become a much anticipated event in the recovery community. A total of 16 recovery organizations and treatment providers set up tables throughout the plaza of FirstEnergy Stadium before the baseball game, providing information on substance use prevention, treatment and recovery. Prior to the game, over 5,000 free tickets were distributed to the general public and to participating organizations, many of whom handed them out to clients and others in the recovery community.
All participating organizations contribute funds, enabling us to give away over 500 free Recovery Awareness Night t-shirts to attendees. More than 6,000 people attended the game.
The goal of the event is to raise awareness that recovery from substance use disorder is possible, to celebrate those who are living in recovery, and to draw attention to the fact that support for treatment and recovery is available right here in Berks County.
“It’s about sharing resources, reducing stigma and learning about recovery support, but in a fun atmosphere,” said Berks County Commissioner Michael Rivera, who is the Co-Chair of SOS Berks
