DESCRIPTION:Scroll down to register\nFamily members and friends who have lost a loved one to an overdose are invited to attend a morning of healing and remembrance. \nThis is a free event that will include: \n\nLight breakfast\nPresentation by Certified Grief Educator Rhonda Miller\, founder of Oasis Community Center\nGuided journaling activity\nGuided chair yoga\n\nAll are invited to attend this event which is being held at the McGlinn Conference Center at Alvernia University\, in recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31. Overdose Awareness Day is recognized globally as a day to remember those who have died from overdose\, honor their families and friends\, and encourage action to prevent future deaths. \nPeople of all ages are welcome to attend and will participate in activities together. \nThis event is limited to 50 participants. SUMMARY:International Overdose Awareness Day Flag Raising
DESCRIPTION:SOS Berks will hold a flag raising ceremony on August 25 at 11AM at City Park in Reading commemorating International Overdose Awareness Day\, which takes place annually on August 31. The event will include speakers\, an invocation and a moment of silence recognizing those who have passed away in our community due to an overdose. All are invited to attend. \nThe Overdose Awareness Day flag will be raised during the event and will fly for seven days. \nThis marks the second year that SOS Berks has joined with the City of Reading to recognized International Overdose Awareness Day with a flag-raising ceremony. Click here to see photos from the 2024 ceremony. \nParking: Please park by the basketball courts and walk down to the flag pole located near 11th & Penn St. \nAbout International Overdose Awareness Day\nInternational Overdose Awareness Day is the world’s largest annual campaign to end overdose\, remember without stigma those who have died and acknowledge the grief of family and friends left behind. \nThe theme for 2025 is “One big family\, driven by hope”\, imagining a new meaning of what family can be. We are one big family – not just because we share in the pain of loss\, but because we share in the power to change what comes next.
